[ Pre-Feasibility Re-investigation for National Roads Nos. 22, 29 Construction Project ]

The project plans to widen the road section of National Roads Nos. 22 and 29, between Hwasun County and East District of Gwangju Metropolitan City (length 8.1km), from 4 to 6 lanes.
The existing road suffers for the large part of poor surface and vertical alignment, which is causing increasing problems in the traffic capacity. The mountainous sections are also unsafe. These issues cause the road to lose its capability to function as an arterial road.
New facilities and widening of the road is also necessary to prepare for the increasing freight transportation that originates from the south-western part of Korea, as well as for the future regional development projects. Construction is expected to be completed by 2011, after which the road will contribute to more balanced regional development.
Sambo Engineering performed re-investigation of the feasibility, as well as inspection of the planning, between August, 2005 and January, 2006.
