[Detailed Design for Seongnam ~ Yeoju Double Track Railway, Lot 5]
05.04.27~05.11.25/Namkwang Construction
Seongnam ~ Yeoju Double Track Railway is planned to establish a wide transportation system and lead to further decentralization of population from the metropolitan area, as well as to provide traffic convenience for Gwangju, Icheon area.
The scope of services for Lot 5, was a total length of 4,621.97m, with 129.4m of earth works, 1 bridge (L=977m), 1 tunnel (L=3,515.57m). Plans for the modern Gwangju Station and access road connecting the station with National Road No. 43 were considered using functionality and economy.
Mitigation measures were established to minimize public opposition that would be caused by water, noise and vibration pollution of the section passing through protected water supply area.
Stability was ensured by pre-stress testing to identify main issues for settlement in the bridge design. Advanced methods were also used to establish countermeasures against groundwater seepage in the tunnel design. Sufficient sight distance during construction and operation was reserved to prevent impact on the existing tunnel, and driver safety was considered in all aspects of the project design.
