[Detailed Design Proposal for Construction of Donghaenambu Line (Busan - Ulsan) Double Track Railway Lot 2]

The project aims to widen to double track the existing single track Donghaenambu Line between Busan and Ulsan, which was originally built in 1935 for transportation of marine products and other resources. The whole project is divided into 9 lots, of which Sambo Engineering performed detailed design for Lot 2.
The project will result in the completion of transportation network in the area, connecting Busan Port and other areas with Ulsan, and will reduce transportation costs.
The project included bridges with total length of 1,359m, for which Plate Girder bridge type was selected as suitable for crossing the Suyeong River. Other bridge types chosen for their constructability and stability were S-PC beam bridge, PSC beam bridge, and composite bridge types.
For the Haeundae Tunnel (total length 3,620m), Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) with fire simulations was performed to investigate disaster prevention capacities, and as a result of the analysis, additional safety equipment was installed. To ensure stability and minimize harmful impact of the tunnel construction, appropriate excavation methods and reinforcement methods were selected.
