The project aimed to provide improved traffic convenience to the tourists visiting the area, as well as respond to the increasing transportation volumes following the development of the south-eastern Metropolitan Area.

The location for Lot 5 of the project is in Yeongdong - Chowol areas of Gwangju City. The project's total length was 4,621.97m, with 129.40m of earth works, 1 bridge (977m), 1 tunnel (3,515.57m), and 1 station.

To improve the functionality and economic efficiency of the project, the station was designed with consideration to connecting with National Road No. 3, and the City Road No. 27. In addition, pollution, noise and vibration impacts to the water supply area the project passes through were minimized. Stability was ensured by pre-stress testing to identify main issues for settlement in the bridge design.
