The project aims to contribute to the development of the Metropolitan Area by connecting Wansimni through Seolleung, Ori and Jukjeon to Suwon City, and ensure sufficient transportation capacity. The project section is located between Seongdeong District and Gangnam District, and has a total length of 1.66km.

Heavy inundation along the project route was a expected. Consequently, waterproof valves were installed in the ventilation shafts. NATM and shield TBM construction methods were chosen for various sections, depending on the suitability of the method with the various characteristics of the section, and environmental and inundation issues were resolved successfully.
