The Pyeongtaek - Eumseong Expressway aims to provide a part of an arterial road network which will strengthen the existing expressway network and improve national competitiveness in the 21st century's global markets.

The project will directly connect with the Seohaean, Gyeongbu and Jungbu Expressways, and divert traffic from the overloaded Seohaean Expressway, as well as promote development in the southern Metropolitan Area and central Korea.

Total length of the project section was 58.0km, with 4 lanes and design speeds of 120km/h. Sambo Engineering's services concentrated on a 5.51km section of the expressway, which included the main structures of Geumgwang 3rd Tunnel (length 3,501m) and Okjeong 1st Bridge (length 365m)
