[Design/Construction Package of Jungang Double Track Line (Jecheon - Dodam)] 2002.03.29 ~ 2002.08.31 / Korail, Daewoo Construction

Following the expansion of the cement factory located in the vicinity of the Dodam Station of the Jungang Line, transportation capacity requirements lead to the planning of a double track construction of the section. The project theme of "Green Line" was promoted by concentrating on the improvement of the components of bridges, tunnels and earth works.

The Jungang Line, together with the Gyeongbu Line, forms the main south-north railroad network. In order to increase the transportation capacity of the line, several expansion projects have been implemented earlier, including the double track construction between Cheongnyangni - Deokso from 1999 to 2001, and Deokso - Wonju currently under construction.

Jecheon - Dodam section has a length of 15.87 km, and the basic and detailed design for the civil works (bridges and tunnel) was implemented by Sambo Engineering. Main facilities included the Jecheon, Gomyeong, Samgog and Dodam Stations, 9 tunnels with a total length of 4,932 m, and 8 bridges with a total length of 1,240m.
