[Design/Construction Package of Double Track Jungang Line (Deoksu - Yangsu)]
2000.08.21 ~ 2000.11.28 / Korail, Dong Ah Construction
The double track project for the Jungang Line aimed to increase the operation travel speeds and reduce the costs of transportation through the mountainous area between Seoul and Gyeonggi, Gangwon and Gyeongsang provinces. The railroad will also improve the transportation capacity with the restoration of the Gyeongui, Gyeongwon and Geumgansan lines.
By forming an integral part of the X-shaped railroad network in Korea, this line will contribute to the vitalization of transportation of goods and passengers, regional development, decentralization of population from the capital area, and increase trade between the capital area and Gangwon, Gyeongbuk provinces.
Sambo Engineering performed services on a 13.2 km section between Namyangju and Yangpyeong. The line was assigned as 1st level railroad, with a design speed of 150 km/h. Main structures include Dogog, Paldang and Neungnae stations, 4,175 m of tunnels (Paldang, Wolmun, Dogog tunnels), and 12 bridges, including 1st and 4th Dogog, Mullyong, and 1st Jinjung bridge, with a total length of 2,168 m. The bridge of Bukhan River has a length of 670 m. The line also connects with National Road No. 45 at the ends of the Bukhan River Bridge.
