[Design/Construction Package Improvement of Sinbuk - Yanggu National Road (Suin village)]

The Sinbuk - Yanggu section of the National Road No. 46 is unsafe, due to the rough terrain and poor alignment. Consequently, this project aims to provide an arterial road that can respond to future traffic demand, by installation of tunnels and improvement of route alignment.
Project approach method was selected after consideration of related plans, site conditions, route selection and traffic forecasts, basic planning, and economic analysis. Feasibility study and basic design were carried out to determine the optimal route and investment methods.
Total length of the project route is 6.12 km, located between Buksan and Yanggu counties in Gangwon Province. It includes 5 bridges, 3 tunnels, and 3 intersections. Of the bridges, Suin Bridge was built using FCM method on the PSC box girder type bridge. There were 7 consortiums competing for the project; the consortium which included Sambo Engineering was selected.
