[Design/Construction Package for Construction of Daejeon Subway Line No. 1]

In order to alleviate the traffic congestion and promote balanced development in the Daejeon Metropolitan Area, Daejeon Subway Line No. 1 was promoted, and bidding process executed for the design and construction for the main line, stations, and communication facilities. Sambo Engineering carried out the design of earth works for a 1.5 km section of the line, located between the Dongseoro Intersection in the Central District and the Yongmun Intersection in the Southern District, with an aim of providing an functionally effective urban railroad.
The 1st stage of the design process included a thorough understanding of the client's policy direction, analysis of the area's characteristics, and identification of potential issues. In the 2nd stage, the responses in the basic planning to the identified issues were analysed and assessed, and confirmation or modification was included in the detailed design, where necessary.
Main structures in the project were stations no. 108 and the Gyeryong pedestrian overpass. As the station is located adjacent to the Yudeung Stream, appropriate water-proof panels were installed in the entrances to prevent inundation. Space was also reserved for an easy connection to the line no. 5, which is to be built in the future.
