[Design/Construction Packages for Lot 9 of Yeongdong Expressway Widening to 4 Lanes (Wonju - Gangneung)]

Sambo Engineering carried out the design works for road, structures and tunnels for the Wonju - Gangneung section of the Yeongdong Expressway widening to 4 lanes. The project section, located between Yongpyeong and Pyeongchang counties in Gangwon Province, was approximately 2,900 m long. The widening was constructed one direction at a time, and the structures were planned accordingly.

Major structures included the 1st and 2nd Yongpyeong tunnels. 1st Yongpyeong Tunnel has a length of 2,095 m, and required the installation of ventilation facilities equipped with adequate dust collectors. The section between the two tunnels was covered with a canopy to shelter the road from the heavy snowfalls frequent in the region, thereby reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
