[Detailed Design for Privately Funded Joyang IC on the Seoul - Chuncheon Expressway]

Joyang IC connects the Seoul - Chuncheon Expressway with National Road No. 5. The interchange type was determined based on consideration of traffic volumes, topographic conditions, and safety.

To minimize public opposition and environmental damage, vibration control blasting method (Type III and IV) were applied. In the case of cross culverts, constructability and maintenance considerations suggested the expansion of one of the existing culverts, and construction of 2 new culverts (RC structure).

Construction costs were also reduced be designing steel pipe piles for the RC Rahmen bridges on Ramp B, as its substructure was on ground level.
