[New Design for Construction of Ori - Suwon Double Track Railway (Giheung - Sanggal) Lot 2]
07.10.23 ~ 08.05.31 / Kolon Construction

The Ori - Suwon Railway will alleviate the traffic congestions south-west from the Seoul Metropolitan City, provide connection between Suin and Gyeongbu Lines, expand the urban railway network, and contribute to balanced development. Its main function is to link Suwon and Bundang Cities, and it connect Singal, Giheung, Yeongtong, Suwon City Hall and Suwon Station.

Sambo Engineering implemented detailed design for the Giheung - Sanggal section (L=2.44 km, 2 stations) between 2001 and 2003. The need for a new detailed design stemmed from the modification to the train configuration (10 cars to 8 cars), reduction of the scale of Giheung and Sanggal Stations, and inclusion of additional fire shelters for the passengers on the subway platform (3rd floor underground) in case of a fire. The section is expected to open for initial operation by the end of 2011.
