[Detailed design of Earth Works and Track for Privately Funded Jeolla Line Iksan - Silli Double Track Railroad]

This project aims to provide preliminary high-speed railway (KTX) service to Jeonju, Suncheon, Yeosu areas, and ensure freight transportation capacity for the Gwangyang Port and Yeocheon National Industrial Park. Construction is planned to be completed by March 2011, in time for the 2012 Yeosu World Expo.
For the soft ground section between Dongik Mountain and Samnye, Rahmen bridge type was used for its advantages in less of required earth works. The bridge was designed to become a landmark for the area and National Road No. 27.
To improve the efficiency and utilization of the line, interfaces between the different components (railbed, tracks, buildings, and systems such as electric supply, signals and communications) were considered together. The building of stations was planned in stages to prevent hindrances to operation of trains on the track.
