[3rd Design Proposal for the Privately Funded 2nd Yeongdong (Seoul - Wonju) Expressway] 06.01.20 ~ 06.06.30 / Hyundai Construction
 After consideration of the Yeongdong Expressway improvement project, which has been promoted in preparation for the opening to public of the Jungang and Jungang-Naeryuk Expressways, as well as balanced regional development's needs for adequate arterial roads connecting the Seoul Metropolitan area with the south-eastern region, it was proposed that a more effective solution would be to construct a new route that would divert traffic from Yeongdong Expressway, as well as ensure an adequate arterial road network to the Seoul Metropolitan area.
 The project is located between Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province and Wonju City in Gangwon Province, and has a total length of 56.95 km. There are 4 lanes in each direction, and the design speed is 100 km/h. The route passes Gwangju Junction, Jungbu and Jungbu-Naeryuk Expressways, Chowl IC, National Road No. 3, and finally connects with Yeongdong Expressway.
 The design is expected to have several effects. First, it will connect the 2nd Gyeongin Connecting Expressway with the Seongnam - Janghowon National Road. Second, it will divert traffic from Yeongdong Expressway by connecting with Jungang and Jungang-Naeryuk Expressways. And third, it will reduce travel distance and time and provide an adequate arterial road network to the south-eastern Seoul Metropolitan Area.
