Construction supervision for Dolsan-Hwtae Yoendo Bridge
Cable-Stayed Bridge (Main span : 500m)
- The temporary works for constructing Handol Grand Bridge is a turnkey project (design and construction). Its purpose is to develop the region through the bridge on the national road 77 by connecting the province and island. Throughout constructing this bridge, it is expected to have the function of leading balanced regional development and a tourist spot.
- This bridge is a starting point of the whole project route. At the same time, the ending point, Geokgeum-Youngnam Bridge is planned to be constructed. Therefore, the whole project route is expected to be implemented in short time.
- According to the result of current situation of the project area, the length of main span should be longer than 500m. Also, the project area is over the deep sea and is located near sea farming area so the bridge should be constructed with large and medium sized equipment that can be used under the sea.
- Handol grand Bridge has been planned to be a cable-stayed bridge with 500m length of main span that can be used as a tourist attraction and a symbol of the region which would form the identity of the area. The Handol Grand Bridge was planned as the largest cable-stayed bridge in South Korea with 500m of main span.

Detail design for Ulsan Grand Bridge and the approach road by public-private investment
Suspension Bridge (Main span : 1,100m)
- The purpose of Ulsan Grand Bridge and the approach road project is to implement detail design for Metropolitan arterial road from Meaam-dong in Southern part to Ilsan-dong in Eastern part, which is the part of the east-west city expressway project (Sinbok Rotary ~ whajeong-dong in Eastern part)
- The Ulsan Grand bridge section is located from Meaam-dong in Southern part to Ilsan-dong in Eastern part. Ulsan Grand bridge is a suspension bridge which has one span with two pylons putting both side at the end of bridge so that it must not prevent ships. The length of main span is 1,150m and this is the longest in South Korea and world third.
- Ulsan Grand bridge removed the risk of crush between ships and pylons by building it on the land (each side of the bridge) instead of building it under the sea. Also, it is considered to be changed adapting circumstances of the surroundings such as seaways, which may be widened, and docks for ships that approach near the bridge in the future.
- In addition, the bridge was designed considering several high technology below.
- 1. the extra strands for the suspension cable considering difference of tension between the side span and main span
- 2. the high-strength cables (1,960 MPa) that are used for the first time in the world
- 3. anchorage with tunnel type considering geographical condition for the first time in South Korea

- The concept for Keumkang 4th Bridge is "Keumgaram keeper" which is a river god to keep the Keumgang safe. The design motive of the pylon was a form of a falcon which lives in Yeongi Province and by adapting this design, U type of pylon was decided to be used considering openness for drivers as well. Also, the road network system for bicycles has been made, so that the cyclers can access the bridge and the natural river park near the bridge easily. In addition, an observatory and pavement for pedestrian has been designed for bridge and park users.
- This bridge is the first U type cable-stayed bridge of South Korea and it considered the harmonization of nature. The bridge is consist of concrete pylon and strengthening type of the edge box to maximize structural efficiency and to secure safety and stability from wind for construction. The length of main span is 250m to improve water flow capacity and through analyzing shrinkage and expansion of width of the bridge (due to temperature and precipitation), the stability was secured.
- The access bridge is a PSC Box girder. The main span (The standard span: 120m) is consecutive and applied FCM to minimize the construction near the river.
